Upgrading your single-glazed windows to double-glazed windows will provide you with an enormously different living experience - both in terms of comfort, noise levels and your energy bills.
And if your wooden frames are also worse for wear or the mechanical elements no longer running smoothly, upgrading them will improve the functionality and aesthetics as well.
-
This depends on your building and your neighbourhood. If you live in a listed apartment block in a conservation area, you could need up to 3 different permits and licenses: Listed Buildings, Planning Permission and Freeholders Consent.
-
Yes. The government has sensible energy efficiency goals and targets; and they are encouraging homeowners to upgrade the less energy efficient elements of older properties. Windows being one of them.
However, on a local level, these ideals don’t always translate; resulting in homeowners having to jump through time consuming hoops and red tape to attain permits or having to compromise on their desired outcome.

If you enjoy, and are good with, research and paperwork, have the bandwidth to manage the back-and-forth of emails and calls with different approving bodies, then you don’t need us to do this for you.
However, if you’re after a turnkey solution and an easier life, we will take the pain out of it for you, and save you weeks or months of soul-destroying bureaucracy.
We do this on a regular basis for our clients. We know what local authorities and conservation officers need to see in submissions and approvals.

You can expect a seamless, one-point-of contact, end to end experience. You can also expect the highest quality windows and doors, plus a much warmer and quieter home.

-
Not much – keep them clean and open and close them regularly. When they require re coating, a simple cleaning of the surface and a very light rub down is all that is needed, before a re application of one top coat of paint.

In stage one: We understand your needs and goals, we visit your home, we’d know the local laws and regulations, determine what’s possible and advise on your best options.
In stage two: We put any necessary applications in, manage the responses from interested parties which could include planning officers, conservation officers, managing agents and freeholders.
In stage three: After the approval decisions, we re-measure your space, and, depending on the approved options - finalise whether to restore and draught seal the existing windows, fit new energy efficient double glazed or vacuum glazed sliding sashes into your existing frames, or manufacture complete new windows and frames.
In stage four: We ready your home for installation. This will entail protecting your home from top to bottom. If you live in an apartment block, we also protect the communal areas, plus engage with your porter and neighbours to let them know what’s happening.
In the final stage: Once your windows are perfect, we provide a full professional clean. You return. Marvel at how quiet and warm your home has now become. Shortly after you will receive the final approval certificates, plus a new energy performance certificate (EPC) where appropriate.
